President Obama, incapable of impacting our economy in a positive way and knowing nothing but agitation and division, has worked his magic again, coming out as having “evolved” to being in favor of gay marriage, and immediately releasing his media lapdogs at the Washington Post to publish a hit piece painting Romney as a gay basher in High School, circa 1965. But Romney, admitting to being a prankster back in the day, doesn’t remember a prank involving cutting anyone’s hair. In fact apparently no one remembers the incident which supposedly happened 48 years ago. The “victim” died in 2004 so can’t step forward to repudiate this “news.” However his family is alive and his sisters stepped forward immediately:
“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family.”
“If he were alive today, he would be furious [about the story].” Jason Horowitz, the reporter on the Post story, did speak to both sisters and quoted them in the story – but apparently still botched the facts.
Sorry. Horowitz didn’t botch the facts. He invented them from whole cloth by misrepresenting statements of people who didn’t witness an incident that can not be confirmed to have even occurred.
On the plus side, this all strikes me as very good news. Obama is terribly desperate to be forwarding these distractions. His record of accomplishment is awful, unless you’re gay or Osama Bin Laden. So it appears the only thing he can do is pit us against each other. He’s very good at that.
Exit question: Would Barack Obama be our President today if the media had been as interested and successful in revealing every little detail of his past? [Added:] Karl Rove wants to know the same thing. Of course, to the WaPo, that’s a “gripe” and not real.
