Squirrel Comedy

I came up with this bit for Saturday Night Live. But maybe it’s too edgy. I’ll let you decide:

Scene: White House briefing Room. The President of the United States is at the podium wrapping up a comment about the benefit in delaying the cap on out-of-pocket costs in Obamacare. A reporter stands and asks a follow-up question.

REPORTER:
Mr President, where does the Constitution confer upon presidents the “executive authority” to ignore the separation of powers by revising laws rather than carrying them out?

**BRIEF PAUSE**

PRESIDENT OBAMA:
Well, you know *clears throat* I’m glad you asked that. *Clears throat a bit louder and more emphatically* *Holds up finger to suggest intent to answer as soon as he gets this pesky bit of pflegm in his throat out as he turns away from the audience and coughs*

Camera pans back to reveal every reporter in the room standing in a circle around the questioner stabbing him repeatedly.

Meanwhile the local affiliate’s anchor team can be heard in voiceover filling Obama’s throat-clearing moment with incisive commentary and riveting narrative:

FEMALE ANCHOR:
Well, even though The President is in obvious distress, not a hint of sweat! Not a ruffle. The man is unflappable. He really looks great.

MALE ANCHOR:
Indeed. Look at that tie. Brilliant choice. Again. And even the crease in his pants has great form. And I don’t mind admitting, I have a huge broner right now. The man’s a genius.

FEMALE ANCHOR:
Genius!

**Laughter**

Obama turns to face the reporters, having regained his composure. The reporters have all returned to their seats and are listening attentively.

That would be the **FADE OUT**

[Added:] I shamelessly stole the following from InstaPundit, quoting Donald Sensing because there will be a very serious price to be paid for having a press corps that cheerleads for one political side over the other, at all times, at all costs:

“The goal of the entire Democrat party is to be the permanent, sole political authority in the country. This is the actual transformation that Barack Obama promised to great applause in his 2008 campaign. And we are getting transformed good and hard. . . . Obama can do this not because the Constitution or law authorize it. Most definitely they actually prohibit it. He is getting away with it because there is no one who can stop him and almost no one who wants to stop him. No one, and I mean absolutely no one, in the Democrat party is in the slightest interested in reining in Obama’s expansion of executive diktat because they know what few of the rest of us are awakening to: the Democrats are never going to lose that executive authority again. Let me be clear, with a promise to elucidate another day: there is never going to be another Republican president. Ever. The media will not examine Obama’s imperialist manner because they do not want to. They agree with it. The courts are literally unable to enforce their rulings contra this administration; Obama ignores them at will and without consequence.”
