Rice Nails It

In listening to Condi Rice’s speech, there was a particular passage that resonated with me and (in my furry opinion) perfectly encapsulates why America is flailing within, why the world is in relative chaos, and why the American and world economies are in tatters:

And we have seen — we have seen that the desire for liberty and freedom is, indeed, universal, as men and women in the Middle East rise up to seize it.  Yet, the promise of the Arab spring is engulfed in uncertainty, internal strife, and hostile neighbors are challenging the young, fragile democracy of Iraq.  Dictators in Iran and Syria butcher their people and threaten regional security. Russia and China prevent a response, and everyone asks, where does America stand?

Indeed — indeed, that is the question of the hour.  Where does America stand?  You see when friends or foes alike don’t know the answer to that question, unambiguously and clearly, the world is likely to be a more dangerous and chaotic place.

That seems to me to be true on so many levels. Whether we’re talking about liberty or economics or democracy or peace or free markets or religion, prosperity doesn’t take root in the shadow of danger and chaos. And what we have is a hostile government within and a passive America without. And from all appearances this is exactly what President Obama and the progressive left are deliberately trying to create.

Racism, Ewoks and Obama’s Retirement

I was going to write a witty and insightful posting about racism and the media meme. Ellen Barkin and Samuel L. Jackson and Toure and Tingles Matthews were up first, followed by David Chalian who was fired by Yahoo for getting caught disparaging Romney for partying while blacks drown in New Orleans.

Then I stopped by Ace of Spades HQ, and not only had that bastard already hit that like an ewok with a bottle of value-rite, he has something better:

I’m the guy looking out for Obama. All I want for Obama is a cushy fundraising position in an organization with noble-sounding but extremely vague goals where people can just love on him all day, where he doesn’t have to actually do anything. You know, like his blessed life before he won the election.

So I’m pushing for funding for the Barack H. Obama International Center for Humanity & Golf Course.

A Hitch In The Plan

I received some unwelcome news at work, yesterday. My position is being dramatically changed and will have a serious impact on my work duties and availability for blogging. I don’t yet know how it will work out. Except that it’s likely that posting will be much lighter for the foreseeable future.

It’s honestly depressing, as the site here has seen a big uptick in visitors over the last month, with last Friday netting the biggest single day, yet. And now this. Maybe everything will be fine. But I have no idea how it will work out. So we’ll have to wait and see.

I should also point out that I’m very thankful to have a job and work for an employer who is willing to make the changes that the organization needs.

Quote of the Day

Ryan Zinke, former Navy SEAL who started the super PAC Special Operations for America on the PACs recent ad (Hat Tip Breitbart):

“It accurately portrays his core belief that America should not lead. This president is shaping America to be one of the followers, to relinquish our role as a world leader. I didn’t fight 23 years as a Navy SEAL to watch America bow to anybody.”

He continued, “It’s not just the king of Saudi Arabia. My friends from WWII that fought in the Pacific theater — when they see the president bow to the emperor of Japan, I’ve seen veterans cry. This is about the fundamental belief in American exceptionalism, the notion that America should reign supreme. We are a country of values, and we fought hard to be exceptional, and we are.”
