Reid’s Shameless Gambit

From The Other McCain:

When liars succeed, this represents the triumph of vice over virtue, the encouragement of evil and the discouragement of good. So we should take alarm when we see how Harry Reid’s vicious lies are being celebrated as successful politics:

L.A. Times’s Rainey: Hey, Maybe Harry Reid Is Lying, But
By Forcing Romney to Talk About His Lies, He Is Still “Winning”

A nation that considers it acceptable to “win” by lying is a nation far gone down the degenerate road to complete corruption.

I’m sure that at any moment Jon Lovitz will explain to Harry how his unbelievably shameless lies and destructive partisan rhetoric are manifestations of a compromised sense of humor.

Lovitz, Liberal Tolerance, And Blinders

Jon Lovitz spent plenty of time poking fun at George W. Bush during his presidency, and everything was fine. But after lobbing some sharp humor Obama’s way, Lovitz is noticing a dramatically different reaction from certain Americans. A reaction that includes death threats. As Breitbart reports:

When the “Saturday Night Live” alum chided President Barack Obama for saying the rich don’t pay their fair share earlier this year, he ended up letting a security escort walk him to his car.

Lovitz tells Big Hollywood that his now infamous podcast rant against Obama’s class warfare rhetoric led to death threats left on the voice mail of his Universal City-based comedy club.

“I know where you eat,” one message warned.

The comedian, who owns the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club and Podcast Theatre, says he isn’t concerned about his safety. He is riled up, however, about the media, his fellow Democrats and why questioning the president’s policies means complete strangers now accuse him of being a racist.

Yea, sucks, huh?

“I don’t see the president as black or white. He’ a man,” Lovitz says, adding he’s frustrated by his own party rushing to slap a racist label on him.

“What I find bizarre is how the quote liberals are bringing up race … saying, ‘shut the f*ck up.’ I find them so close minded. I thought you were liberal,” he says. “You should be tolerant of everybody whether they agree with you or not.”

Hoo boy, that’s funny. Liberals tolerant when they disagree. That’s rich.

This all started back in April, when Lovitz sat down with Robin Leach. My reaction was a sarcastic, John McClane, “Welcome to the party, pal.” He’s an insulated Hollywood Comedian. He. Doesn’t. Get. It. He likely never will.

The real story, as Lovitz sees it, is how the press is going after comedians. He praised two conservative media outlets for their coverage of his Obama comments.

“Your site and Twitchy.com, they get the humor. The Huffington Post … their comedy guys have no sense of humor and their headlines are lying,” he says.

-snip-

Lovitz also takes issue with organizations like GLAAD which pounce on comedians for saying politically incorrect material on stage.

“They don’t understand irony and sarcasm. They take what [comedians] say literally … it’s ridiculous,” he says.

It’s been four months and he still doesn’t understand. He still gives them the benefit of the doubt, even in the face of their vitriol and threats. He refuses to take off the blinders. This isn’t about a collectively compromised sense of humor on the part of the left. This is 50 years of leftist advocacy in academia, government and special interest groups matured, resulting in leaders who have been activists their whole lives, engaged in a culture war using political correctness and double-standard tolerance and civility as weapons to suppress opposing perspectives and opinion.

Lovitz offends them. His comments challenge The Narrative and The One. Conservatives know what that means.

But yea, Jon, a lesson on irony and sarcasm deficiency will probably smooth everything over.  Because that’s the problem. Good luck with that.

Quote of the Day

H/T Legal Insurrection:

What’s more illogical, the birthers or the Marxists/socialists, that is the statists? Whose denying what? The birthers are harmless. But Obama is denying the laws of economics. He’s denying the Constitution in many respects because that’s the nature of his philosophy and his politics. So he’s a denier. He’s a Constitution denier. He’s a capitalism denier. He’s a private property denier. He’s a profit denier. Right? He’s a success denier. A prosperity denier. -Mark Levin
