New Nuclear Plants Licensed

At the staggering cost of over $9 Billion dollars, South Carolina has been granted licenses for 2 new nuclear power plants, the first to be built in the US since the Three Mile Island incident in 1979. Reuters reports:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Friday approved a license for Scana Corp to build two reactors at the Summer nuclear station in South Carolina, the agency’s second approval of additional nuclear units to be built in two months after a 30-year construction hiatus.

A ray of sunshine!
