Brett Kimberlin

Before May 21st, I’d never heard the name Brett Kimberlin. That morning I visited Patterico.com and read his post retelling the story of how Kimberlin, described as a serial litigant, convicted bomber, and perjurer was abusing the legal process:

to wage war against [blogger Aaron Walker/Worthing who] told the truth about him. This is not about politics. It’s about how one man, together with a small crew of enablers, can use anonymous libelous speech on the Internet and frivolous actions in court to try to squelch truthful speech about his criminal history.

The Patterico post includes links to Walker’s site, Allergic to Bull, where we learn that Kimberlin has previously attempted to frame Walker for a crime, and now has filed a “Peace Order” against him, alleging that Walker is stalking him and is a threat to his safety. Screenshots, links and even video are included to support Walker’s blog entry. It took time to digest. And it made me angry.

I started working my way around some of my regular blogs and came across a post titled “Other Computer Savvy Activists” over at The Other McCain. This included links to PopeHat and others, so I posted a link dump, my first entry on Kimberlin. From what I can tell, McCain’s first post in Kimberlin was this piece on May 17.

Four hours after my post, the situation had taken a dark turn over at The Other McCain: In an entry titled, “Never Doubt That God Answers Prayer” McCain posts from an undisclosed location and describes how his earlier articles had captured Kimberlin’s attention, forcing him to uproot his family and move. That was worthy of a post here, my second on Kimberlin. McCain writes:

Kimberlin appears to be engaged in an attempt to intimidate me into being silent about his sordid criminal history.

Appropriate precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of my family and others who might be endangered if Kimberlin resorts to violence to accomplish his malicious purposes. At the urging of concerned friends, we have vacated our former residence and I am now blogging from a secret location which Kimberlin will be unable to discover or reach.

Smitty posted a clarification at The Other McCain clarifying that, “There have been no specific threats against RSM or his family from Mr. Kimberlin.” This is good news and shows that McCain is being cautious where his family and a serial domestic terrorist are involved. However, in a response to a commenter his blog, Aaron Walker states:

I don’t believe he did anything illegal. It’s not illegal to say “I know where your wife works. I know the name of your kids.” But when Brett Kimberlin says it, people of common sense recognize there is an implicit threat.

Creepy. And the victim is virtually powerless.

Andrew Breitbart tweeted a warning about Kimberlin six months before he died. And blogger Mandy Nagy AKA Liberty_Chick has been harassed by Kimberlin for over a year because of her Breitbart articles, “Progressives Embrace Convicted Terrorist” and “As Hacked ChamberLeaks Emails Break, Left Scrambles to Hide Ties to Domestic Terrorist” with very little support.

We’re not just talking about the last year. The foundation for the fear and anxiety is the fact that the man is a convicted bomber (Indianapolis Star, 1978). This is not in dispute, read the facts. Is it a jump to suggest that the man is not entirely stable, at best? And at worst, what exactly is he? Factually speaking, the only detail we don’t know is the motive. Everyone who could say seems to find themselves inconveniently dead. So we don’t know if he’s a deadly pyromaniac or if he’s also a domestic terrorist (or more). Kimberlin’s bombing spree terrorized a community and destroyed a man’s life. The victim later committed suicide because the events shattered his life. His family won a large judgement against Kimberlin, but I can’t find any evidence that he’s paid any of it.

There’s so much more to write… His record as a serial litigant is a matter of public record: Absolute Moral Authority has a posting with a quick taste. His non-profit. Velvet Revolution Underground (Updated). Breitbart Unmasked. Trail of donations from liberals. It goes on and on. This post doesn’t even come close to adequately telling the story. I am a lowly ground squirrel. There are so many details, so many issues with this man that I haven’t even touched on. Check out the link dump. Visit the sites, read for yourself. It’s absolutely chilling. The man has no soul.
