Marketwatch: Obama spending binge never happened

Yes, that’s the actual headline on the shameless Obama apologist article at Marketwatch:

Why do people think Obama has spent like a drunken sailor? It’s in part because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the federal budget.

Alternate headline: Don’t believe your lying eyes! You can’t understand the big scary budget! But then author Rex Nutting goes off the rails:

The president only begins to shape the budget in his second year. It takes time to develop a budget and steer it through Congress — especially in these days of congressional gridlock.

Perhaps someone should inform Mr. Nutting that President Obama hasn’t passed a budget in over 1100 days. And according to Nutting’s thesis, the last successfully passed budget was Bush’s doing. And the weak proposal(s) Obama has sent perfunctorily to Congress have been voted down, the most recent attempt lost unanimously.

FreedomWorks brings some reason and sanity:

It’s pretty basic, really. The rate of growth in spending is NOT equivalent to spending as an overall percentage of GDP. This is a selective look at statistics without giving the overall context. Yes, the rate of growth has leveled off. But ONLY after spending was raised to unsustainable levels!

And Gateway Pundit brings the Chart-Fu and verbal smackdown:

Barack Obama and Democrats added over One Trillion Dollars to the annual Federal Budget in the last 4 years. That’s at least a 30% increase in federal spending in just 3 years. It’s what Obama calls “balanced and responsible.”

If Americans are stupid enough to believe this hogwash then we deserve no better than liar Barack Obama. Tonight’s speech was so dishonest it was insulting.
