The Hoopla Over Hoodies

Since the Trayvon Martin incident the media and protesters have been going into overdrive over “hoodies” and stereotyping. William Jacobson has a few media examples of reactions over at Legal Insurrection.

Am I the only one who feels as if I’m being diverted from the important discussion here? Why are we caught up in ONE killing? 18 blacks are murdered every day. Why are their deaths unimportant compared to Trayvon Martin? Rather than agree on the simple and common-sense premise that killing is bad, and we should all do what we can to stop it, instead we choose ONE killing to analyze, ignore the whole “killing is bad” part, and focus like a laser on skin color, race, prejudice and profiling. This whole episode has been a disgrace.

Exit question: Have Americans’ partisanship blinded them to true evil?

[Added:] WOFL TV in Florida is reporting that a black youth has been shot and killed in Sanford, Fla.. Do you think we will hear one word about it? Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit brings the snark:

Another teen was seriously wounded in a late night shooting in Sanford, Florida last night. But no need to get upset – the shooter was a likely black gang member he wasn’t a “white” Hispanic man.
