In an ugly article on an ugly subject, the Associated Press whitewashed the suicide of a young Pakistani woman. The article made no mention of Muslims, Islam, the Koran, Sharia, or Honor Killings in the case of the woman doused with acid by her ex-husband. She lived for 10 years and through three dozen surgeries before giving up and jumping out the window from the 6th floor of her building. The AP article did manage to point out that the “story highlights the horrible mistreatment many women face in Pakistan’s conservative, male-dominated culture and is a reminder that the country’s rich and powerful often appear to operate with impunity.”
Never mind that in a country of 187 million people, 181 million are Muslims (that’s 97%). That is irrelevant. Clearly, the problem is those conservative men dominating the culture.
