Bully Brooks Bayne: Belligerent Petulant Immature Narcissist

I’ve been watching Brooks Bayne on Twitter for months and am not the only one noticing a very troubling trend by the self-proclaimed conservative federalist attacking fellow conservatives. He attacks Aaron Worthing, victim of convicted Speedway bomber Brett Kimberlin. He attacks Patrick “Patterico” Frey, a SWATting victim, calling him childish names, like “Swatterico” and “Fatterico.” He attacks Lee Stranahan, a Breitbart.com reporter, calling him childish names like “Strandedhan” and “Pornohan.” Seriously. Straight out of 4th grade. Bayne attacks anyone involved in raising money for legal defense, suggesting it’s all a big rip-off. He tweets about “big stories coming” about his targets. But the stories don’t come, or when they do no one cares because it’s not news and isn’t big. And what’s most telling, his attacks often put him in league with disgusting and unrepentant Kimberlin apologists @OccupyRebellion and @BreitbartUnmask, two of the most disturbed, vile, sociopathic twitter accounts I have ever seen.

The guy who’s avatar was himself flipping off the camera expects shock at the “revelations” that aren’t revelations about Stranahan being a former leftist? And Porn!! (Yea, it seems to offend his effete sensibilities). There were a few times where I wanted to reach out to him and ask him if he intended to make himself look like a retard absent self-awareness. But it would have been an offense to retards.

The guy comes off like a sock puppet, jealous of guys like Patterico, Stranahan and Worthing, and desperate to insert himself into the narrative. “LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!!”

But why?

From TBogg:

to use an internet tradition, it turns out that he is a man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can’t get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile.

And, speaking of hostility, The Right, to their credit (hands across the aisle, bitchez!) are disavowing him based not only upon his yeoman work, but apparently because he has a history as History’s Greatest Douche.

I lol’ed.

I followed Brooks on Twitter until he blocked me. For such an arrogant tough guy he sure is delicate and thin-skinned. Brooks doesn’t help anything. He doesn’t clear things up. He doesn’t lend to definition. Through his hit-site “The Trenches” he muddies the water. He distracts. And even as he attacks Obama, he does the same to his conservative targets, seeming to enjoy employing a sort of “double-agent” persona that he is convinced is righteous and adds to his objectivity creds.

Stranahan nails Bayne on a point I noticed long ago: Brooks is butt-hurt over Breitbart.com and the people he calls, “Breitbaren’ts”:

Brooks wanted to run Breitbart.com.

I know this sounds absurd because — why? It’s not like Breitbart knew Brooks well or trusted him. It seems very strange to think that Brooks had an ego large enough to presume such a thing.

But presume he did. A couple of weeks ago, I learned from  a couple of different people that Bayne had made statements immediately after Andrew’s death that made it clear that Brooks Bayne viewed himself as the natural successor to Andrew.

No wonder Brooks hates Stranahan so much. Brooks wanted that job and in fact wanted to run the show. But the folks at Breitbart saw him as an unstable freak show and rightly ignored him. Now he wages a sad, personal war of butt-hurt and unresolved angst on twitter. What a tool.

If Brooks Bayne actually stands for something, perhaps he should focus on defining what that is and establishing himself as something other than an inside joke. And an old, stale joke at that.
