Jim Treacher has a post up at the Daily Caller taking NBC to task not for firing the producer responsible for the Zimmerman tape edit fiasco, but for choosing to keep the person anonymous while adhering to the characterization of the misleading edit as “a mistake” and not the deliberate and provocative act that it was. Treacher boils it down:
“NBC News has eagerly joined in and put George Zimmerman and everyone around him on trial for weeks but now NBC is protecting the identity of whoever faked evidence against Zimmerman.”
When it was discovered that Zimmerman was Hispanic, then a registered Democrat, and then a civil rights activist in the black community, the media seemed to suddenly realize the optics and ratcheted down the vitriol. NBC did the right thing in firing their incendiary producer. But he was sacrificed as their faceless hero. Note, to date there’s been no apology to Zimmerman.
This is the part where I snark about how the left, progressives and the media consistently remind us how fake FOX News is.
